Good OL' BOY!!!

HAGEN

Have you ever seen Wynn Dixie....Marley and Me. Well we had our very own WYNN DIXIE and he was a GOOD OL' BOY. But all great things must end, so we said goodbye to our HAGEN last week on Tuesday he died right were he liked to lay inside and covered with blankets from the girls so he would be warm and happy.

Before I go much further I wanted to tell you the story of HAGEN and why we think of him as the BEST dog EVER.......even when he was a nuisance. Calvin got him right before he graduated high school, he was to live at the farm and be the FARM dog...well that lasted until we started to build our house and we quickly realized that his home would be here, although he was always a FARM do at heart. Well our dog had a little bit of an anxiety problem, or a BIG anxiety problem, he was terrified of many things, THUNDER, FIREWORKS, CLOUDS, HOT AIR BALLOONS, just to name a few. Three weeks after we got married, HAGEN took off DUE to FIREWORKS and we searched long and hard never to be found so we thought. NINE yes NINE months later, Grandpa Smart was at the Dr. (were i worked) for an appointment when he came in he began to tell me that he saw Hagen in the parking lot (which was being worked on at the time) OK i thought he really does need to been seen going senile and all. But because he insisted I called Calvin to come take a look, well the dog was gone when Calvin got there so too good to be true......probably is right. WRONG!! when I went to work the next day the dog was back and really did look like HAGEN just 20 lbs heavier, so once again I called Calvin and he came done pictures in hand just in case, well pictures were not necessary because once Hagen saw Calvin he came a running, jumped up on him and jumped in the back of his truck just like he did 9 months before. They man that had him said he came to a job site and would not leave so with no collar on the man decided to take him home, he loved that dog just as much as we did... it was sad but he still came to see Hagen, and he knew it was were he belonged.

So we had our dog back, got him a collar, which came in handy several other times when he would see a CLOUD or hear thunder he would run..so we lost him several more times all to be found again...just within hours not months.

When we added Saige to our family he became the protector and best FRIEND...he really was her WYNN DIXIE!!! He was a great dog with the kids and never got upset.

But the last few months have been hard, he has been sick with Liver Cancer and it was not fun to see him so weak but we gave him medicine to help with the pain and the girls pampered him so did Grandma Smart (his other best friend and him hers) they gave him whatever he wanted mostly his favorite HOT DOGS!!!

We will miss him and it was horribly sad to see three little girls saying there goodbyes, they loved him and MISS him lots.
